Renovating a 60+ year-old building’s HVAC system was the main focus of this project at The University of Georgia’s McPhaul Center. Because the building was occupied during renovations, the Parrish team phased the project to ensure safety, and altered active construction times to accommodate campus needs. Four classrooms with labs, office areas, a kitchen, storage, and mechanical rooms were impacted by the renovation. The majority of construction was completed at night, and affected classrooms were moved to a temporary trailer for two-week increments during active phases of construction. HVAC renovations included split-system, energy recovery units, new electrical switch gear, as well as all new duct work, acoustical ceilings, and lighting.
